Proceedings:

We talked a bit at the start of the call about John N's meeting with DARPA last week. There are some internal political issues that need to be resolved, but the meeting was very positive, and CFTC is very interested in working with FIBO. Another connection Pete mentioned was potentially working with FINRA, which might help bolster the argument with CFTC for getting involved. A couple of key drivers include market manipulation oversight, but also collaboration with other agencies including SEC, FINRA and others. CFTC is quite good at addressing mundane challenges, but sophisticated market manipulation is where ML and other analytics would be useful. CFTC looks at market manipulation, but not necessarily the supply chain. They would like to do more with FERC and others to do more with respect to the spot market, for example. New tools to help with "too big to fail" would be really helpful.

We then started work on DER-138, which is to extend the Credit Default Swap ontology with a Credit Default Swap Index, including concepts of attachment point and detachment point (which also apply to CDOs). We defined the concept of a credit default swap index, and basket of credit default swap instruments as a starting point.

Note that there will not be a DER call next week due to TED AI in San Francisco.
