Business' relevance

This competency question links a manufactured item with the substance that is the active ingredient in the manufactured item. A manufactured item is defined as a good that embodies the qualitative and quantitative composition of a product as contained in the packaging of the medicinal product. As already mentioned in CQ1, different substances can have different functions in a medicinal product. The substance which is the active ingredient is the substance that is responsible for pharmacological activity. Linking manufactured items to their active ingredients will be useful for a better understanding of the portfolio of manufactured items and the related active ingredients, and perhaps provide insights for increasing efficiency and quality of manufacturing and/or product development processes.
