Decisions

After discussion of the requirements for representation of BLS and StatCan as government agencies that publish statistical information relevant to IND, we determined that we should:

  1.  break the current suggested modifications to the BE 1.1 RTF into 3 resolutions - (a) deprecate sole proprietorships in Functional Entities, which should have been done when the new ontology was added, (b) add the government entities / government entities ontology required for IND, LOAN, and SEC to represent the relevant government agencies, government-sponsored enterprises, and government departments – classes in BE and individuals in FBC, and (3) add information regarding tribal governments in support of AML requirements
  2. minimize the changes to FBC in an FTF 1 report to (a) move existing government entities and jurisdictions into separate ontologies that multiple FIBO specs can access, (b) augment the existing entities with those required for IND, and (c) address whatever other current issues time allows, including but not limited to integration with the revised BE specification
  3. in the IND FTF 2 report, reference the publishers added to FBC, such as BLS and StatCan, the Federal Reserve Board, and any others we need depending on what indices and indicators are added by May 23

 

This same strategy should be reviewed with the FBC FCT/FTF on Monday, so that we are all on the same page.

Action items

  • Elisa Kendall and Pete Rivett to review exchange rate definitions for quoted rates, per xe.com, especially with respect to the context of the purpose of the rate
  • Elisa Kendall – add a property for hasQuotationDateAndTime to Indicators for quoted rates that change throughout the day
  • Pete Rivett – need to consider adding the notation of an average rate with respect to some time period and context, for example, average over the course of a day – see xe.com and other related sites such as AmEx that quote exchange rates – as a retrospective rate, for example looking back over the course of the day at various rates
  • Elisa Kendall – revise definition of quoted rate to allow for either forward or retrospective rates
