Short presentation by Claude Baudoin on data residency – initiated due to members in OMG interested in data governance across countries for non-traditional / NoSQL data stores. Meeting since last year, with discussions related to sovereign data, data with jurisdictional issues independently from privacy, although privacy is one of the most critical issues. RFI issued in January – results plus known issues (EU safe harbor, Microsoft FBI issue in Ireland) - only 9 responses to the RFI, but they provided decent coverage of use cases. Primary reason for lack of response might be due to reticence to respond by legal teams, perhaps. Out of the issues raised in the working group and response, first deliverable will be a discussion paper that summarizes the issues identified to date. Draft paper discussion will be at OMG on Wednesday morning in Coronado, with attendance from Google, possibly IBM. Request is to come to the discussion on Wednesday morning, but can also send the paper to folks for review / feedback. Current work is really very preliminary, main goal is to put a discussion paper together and see where it goes. Current issuing task force is MARS, no planned session yet with ADTF.
