David N shows the Wells Fargo Business Ontology with its underlying Data Asset Inventory Knowledge Graph. JN likes this.
DN needs approval from Wells Fargo, but does not see a problem in getting this.
DN No way to do this is a relational data base. Will have the ability to right click on a node and see technical implementations. E.G. Where is the actual data? In which reports is the data. Do analytics with real data. This is all possible because all relationships are visible. What we have now is just the beginning of possibilities.
JN Yes, there is no end to this. It will always be evolving. It is even vendor independent because it is based on a standard. Everyone can use the same platform. Can't be done now. Work, excel, HTML, other apps now are all used for CFTC DD's. DN That would be ok if the source is the same for all representations. FIBO based on RDF/OWL makes this possible. Nothing else does this.
JN Shrini is very interested in Triple Stores. He is onboard with this. We just need to say it and show it to him.
MA When can we show this, JN. I must see this first. Base the presentation on Wells Fargo experience. DN still have work to do. Just started on this as an innovation effort. Need to iterate some more. Not looking for perfection. But, a couple of more iterations that WF needs to have. Driving towards Shrini concluding that there is no other way for CFTC to move forward.
JN says that DN is very close now. What WF has is what CFTC needs. We will have 1.5 hours. 1 hour for presentation and 30 minutes for discussion. Get buy in and then how to actually deliver. Write up a notice and figure out how to get help and work with WF and EDMC, etc. JN CFTC may be able to actually pay for FIBO improvements. CFTC has done this in the past. Has paid for experts to improve certain standards. No promises, but it could be done.
MA The industry would also step up and pay if it sees that the CFTC is actually paying for FIBO. JN CFTC paid for FIXML improvements. MA Yes, there are areas of commonality. Entity relationships for example. Need to make sure the CFTC sees the obvious art of the possible.
MA What would be the little bit more to show Shrini? JN 1) How FIBO can show the graph, the taxonomy, the DD, the Triple Store, the round tripping of all of this based on the otology.
DN Next step is for DN and DA to huddle and do a couple of iterations. DN will have something ready for Shrini for early to mid Jan. We will have something very robust.
ACTION: DA and DN work Dec 7th 1600 1730 EST.
In the meantime DA has a bug sheet that he is working on to give a head start to this working session.
