Proceedings:
20170502 FIBO DER CFTC Pilot
DN: How bring closure to first Phase main topic, before move on to figure out how to get full FIBO use for CFTC?
JN presentation for FIBO PoC
DN: FIBO show how to do more with less, good argument can link, harmonize, and aggregate data, for less $$$ -- gets traction
JN and Dean key folk presenting, DN will point to opportunities along the way
DN point: FIBO actually up and running at Merrill Lynch...
ACTION: EK: to email one liners on her experience e.g. Nordea for more commentary for interjection
EK: Nordea and another intell community group using FIBO in production...
DN: gen stmt 'other orgs using' without disclosing names. OFR has published FIBO as critical data std... e.g.
JN: ref to OFR would resonate, they're in there working on swaps data... FIBO is onto standard and has already done heavy lifting. CTC using Msoft Master Data Services, so they understand 'masterdata' concept, [FIBO] ontology as masterdata...
DN: mention significant reduction in cost and increased efficiency. Single model, don't have to keep multiple models/sources in sync
JN: have master data, can gen a schema/triple store -- flexibility to add data w/out changing structure of data reasoning engines will recognize added data. Lots of data stores available out there with data can use (don't have to replicate); can access thru reference without downloading data. Conceptual data, crosses stovepipes; built in QC (eg enforces level of precision).
JN: people attending with be main focus money guys 3 main: CDO, CIO, conceptual diagrams (map current to FIBO, create 3-stores) others
JN: we have DataMgt branch, data managers in systems branch/data center; DataMgt branch has budget, authority can set up 3-stores... not doing migration for years, map data to 3-stores. Maybe not migrate data at all. We want them to say we need to do this -- gives us the physical/logical diagrams trying to do for years, cross stovepipes -- modeler says she needs, moves forward
DN: suggest up front slide Problems Solution/What Asking For, end summary repeats proposed solution and what asking for.
JN: data dictionaries sporadic, not used; masterdata few programmers use because have to; new data architect coming in
DN: the 'ask' commitment, funding, resources...
DA: lead into his part, need PoC intro slide
ACTION: DA: editing JN slides sending back to him
JN: throw in a slide or two on conceptual diagrams, metadata, (bring modeler in) at very end...
DN: snag def from SMIF for e.g. IRS or else
DA: no IRS in SMIF yet, will work on it.
DN: can get Carol Mahoney to help w scheduling the date/time
ACTION: JN and DN to coordinate presentation to CFTC
ACTION: JN and DN also set up time to talk about BlockChain
JN: Dean make note to say that we can get data from other sources, comma delimit format; they add and anonymize ... add note to slide
DA: thanks JN for great real data sample
DA: make whole things sound like a conversation, more dynamic, pull in audience
DA: reflect JN initial diagram in later detail slides, make connection
JN: can do better than FIXml (just XML) this more; can get data from many other sources (e.g. from exchanges, etc.)
DN: can you put a summarization of the info from many many sources in varied forms, how do you keep up with it, harmonize it... put at very beginning, well know pain points
JN: we have a real real problem with swaps, that's what these guys are thinking about, what we need to concentrate on. Everyone is having problems with swaps, not just us
DN: we headed there, needed to set base first
DA: will animate JN diagram, how his 'ontology' replaced by FIBO ...
DA: take 'Swap' slide out. Demo on server now, will do in presentation, just slides now
JN: with slide Swap in a Diagram, could make the logical conceptual data models point there
DA: get whole diagram of swap with legs, real model diagram, there
DA: showing ANZO PoC in diagrams, made notes on slides. Showing some of analytics can do on data using FIBO and ANZO tool, merging data from multiple disparate sources...
DN: add if have many diff types of swaps, same ease of use, can easily aggregate at all levels -- good value here
DN: meeting again next Tues (DA can run if needed); want a meeting this Fri also? Or is there enough lead time, one day/wk enough? JN: OK either way. DN: touch point next Tuesday, see if we need more
DA: next Tuesday: dress rehearsal, timing -- as if in front of CFTC folk
DN: get data on calendar now, mid-May e.g.? we r in home stretch
