Proceedings

20151119 FIBO-Loans FCT

Will begin where we left off last time with Announcements: 170 EDMC members up from 130 six months ago.  Started http://schema.org financial ontology. 19 members in first 24 hours.  Work with FIBO.SKOS.org has begun.

Changes to existing FIBO classes, etc.

Log changes and move on for discussion later.  MU: presenting slides about connecting to the existing FIBO Classes.

MU showing existing FIBO constructs in Protege. MU asked if terms normally come in bundles or would you want to use terms individually? Max indicated that terms could be used either way.  Jim pointed out that an iteration of a bundle of terms could contain just an individual term. Contracts can contain negotiate terms. Terms can be terms or conditions as well as properties of the loan for example.  Things like interest rate and maturities might be better classified as properties of the loan.  Fan:  I don't think we are ready to enter contractual term into FIBO because the definition is not ready and needs discussions.  Contracts may contain warranties, conditions, representations as well as properties of the loan.  Fan: How is Contract related to Contract Term in FIBO?

MU: will summarize the discussion on Contract Terms.

MU: discussing Commitment.

Fan:  Obligation is not necessarily Commitment and should not be a subclass. Mutual Commitment should be a subclass of Unilateral Commitment. May want to use Commitment (existing FIBO) for Obligations.  Max - An agreement is a collection of commitments.

Fan:  We need to review class definitions and inheritance in the FIBO foundation before we use any of them for the loan ontology. Do we have a good and agreed on definition for each of the classes that are being discussed? This is the only way we can place a loan class as a subclass in the FIBO foundation.

Lynn:  We will put this on our action item list and come back to it la
