Today we discussed how one might create viewpoints on FIBO - such as an excerpt of the ontology specific to IR Swaps, or Commodity Swaps, and how one would create a smaller graph based on only what they needed for a specific viewpoint. Some example viewpoints might be an ESMA or Part 45 view for the CFTC, for example. The idea would be that a FIBO user could download just that viewpoint, load data into a KG for that viewpoint, and use that as the basis for analysis.
This viewpoint based filtering feature reminds me of Dean's tree shaker, so Elisa suggested that she would ask Dean about the status of that, and whether it would create a viewpoint-based extract. Other viewpoints might be based on an ACTUS contract type, or CFI category, or asset class, for example. Then we would need to make sure that for a given viewpoint that we have encoded the ontology to allow for "pulling at that thread". A given user might have a couple of viewpoints they care about for comparison, or only one, and we should be able, in release notes, to alert a user as to what changed based on viewpoint (long term).
We also talked about visualization - for the OKG lab it would be good to have a demonstration platform that includes visualization tools such as Tom Sawyer.
