Today we talked about the various events that could possibly trigger a credit default swap. They include credit events, but also other things, which the CFTC calls 'market event', which could be anything that happens in the marketplace. For example, a weather-specific contract could be triggered by a hurricane - which wouldn't be considered a credit event per se. Thus, we created a class called triggering event, which is any event, including but not limited to credit events, which impacts a contract.
John N. will see if he can get a list of the major event types that the CFTC uses to classify contract-related event.
