Proceedings:
Today we discussed (1) potential demo opportunities, (2) extending our current Swaps ontology work to include Equity Swaps, and (3) the agenda for next week's DER call involving the GAO folks.
- For a general demonstration that leverages what we have done to date for interest rate swaps, David will discuss reaching out to vendors to assess their level of interest with John Bottega later this week.
- On the swaps effort, we poked around in the development ontologies to see which ones might be applicable for integration into release as a next step for the work that we do in derivatives. There are several ontologies of interest under AssetDerivatives, including the core asset derivatives ontology as well as equity swaps. John Nowlin will forward some reporting requirements fields related to equity swaps to assist us in unwinding that material as a starting point.
- With regards to next week's meeting, the GAO are interested in using FIBO for educational purposes as well as to help people understand the financial landscape and financial markets. They may also be interested in integrating multiple ontologies, including FIBO, to bring various data sources together to make sense of the data for a variety of applications. One possible approach would be to cover introductory material next week, and provide a cook's tour of FIBO, and then follow up with a broader discussion of infrastructure needed to provide a richer data fabric for analysis purposes, bringing in multiple data sets, and using FIBO as a part of that landscape. We might want to ask Dean to participate to address at least some of that part of the conversation. Elisa will send a follow up note to the GAO folks to get a sense of what they would like us to cover next week, and solicit input on specific topics of interest.
