Proceedings:
Today we looked at SEC-70, which included an explanatory note on t-bill and some missing restrictions. We added a restriction to USTreasurySecurity to say it is issued in U.S. dollars, but agreed that in order to do more, such as add that the U.S. is the issuer, and that the U.K. is the issuer of Gilts, we should actually create several jurisdiction-specific small ontologies. Otherwise we will have to import all kinds of individuals into the main bonds ontology, which is less than ideal. Also, to add more features, such as the increments such securities are denominated in (e.g., $1K for t-bills), we will need the definition of a datatype for monetary amounts. This is a gap that should be addressed before we add the increments to these definitions (FND-361).
We also looked at other open issues, including SEC-97 and SEC-113. SEC-97 includes several equity-related properties for share liquidity, which we should create general properties for, and then in an EU-specific jurisdiction ontology, add the MiFID requirements. We might consider tackling these next. They require creating the jurisdiction-specific ontologies mentioned above, however.
Then we looked at SEC-164 to see what we should do to address that. The main types of asset-backed securities are home-equity loans, credit-card receivables, auto loans, mobile home loans and student loans. We should ensure coverage of these, but that may require a revision to loans as well.
