Proceedings:
Discussed using the use case of representing an equity and subsequently a bond to the degree that we can support mapping to a securities master file, and documenting that use case as well as the relevant concepts in the ontology, providing a "how to", as the next steps for this FCT activity. An extension of that use case would be to show the mapping to support reporting requirements for end of day market valuations for the instruments in a trading book.
Next steps:
- Draft the use case, including several competency questions that are relevant to developing a master file
- Get sample data from DTCC and Bloomberg
- Compare the sample data with the ontology to see if we can map it
- Create the mapping and identify gaps
- Revise the ontology to fill those gaps (or at least raise issues to do so that can be prioritized)
- Document how a FIBO user might use the ontology to map their own master file data to FIBO
Artifacts that should come out of this process include (1) documentation of the use case, (2) the mapping between FIBO and the example master data, (3) the sample data used for the mapping, and (4) the revised ontology with any gaps filled to meet the use case requirements.
